Το σύμπλεγμα «Against the Adventures of the Middle Class: #1 Woman Torso, #2 ca 7pm, #3 ca 12am» της Σεβαστιάνας Κωνστάκη συντίθεται από ένα φορέσιμο ψυχο-πλεκτικό γλυπτό και δύο κολλάζ. Η πλέξη των έργων—τριών διαστάσεων στο γλυπτό και δύο διαστάσεων στα κολλάζ—δομεί μία οικεία πρακτική επαναπροσδιορισμού και εξιστόρησης του σώματος, χειραφέτησης της σεξουαλικότητας και μεταστροφής (détournement) της πορνογραφικής κουλτούρας. Η κλωστή χρησιμοποιείται σαν θηλυκό αρχέτυπο υλικότητας, ανακατασκευάζοντας το σώμα ως «επιθυμητική μηχανή». Μπορούμε να αντιληφθούμε το κορμί ως «Cabinet de curiosités», ως μία διαρκώς επανασυναρμολογούμενη σύνθεση ύλης και συναισθήματος• κι αν ναι, πώς; Η εγκατάσταση της Κωνστάκη αποτελεί ωδή στο πολύτιμο τέρας• μία γυναικεία μετα-ανάγνωση όλων αυτών που η Ελληνική κοινωνία μας έμαθε να αναγνωρίζουμε ως «προφανή», ως «ανήθικα» και κορμικά «κολάσιμα».

The complex “Against the Adventures of the Middle Class: # 1 Woman Torso, # 2 ca 7pm, # 3 ca 12am” by Sevastiana Konstaki consists of a wearable psy- cho-weaving sculpture and two collages. The weaving technique—three-dimen- sional in the sculpture and two-dimensional in the collages—generates a familiar practice of redefining and narrating the body, emancipating sexuality, and rerout- ing via détournement the pornographic culture. The thread is used as a female archetype of materiality, reconstructing the body as a “desiring apparatus”. Could we perceive the body as a “cabinet de curiosités”, as a constantly reassembled synthesis of matter and emotion; and if so, how? Konstaki’s installation is an ode to the precious monster; a female post-reading of all the stereotypes that the Greek society has taught us to recognize as “obvious”, as “immoral” and bodily “hellish”.
